About Us & Roles

About Us

We are a student-led organization utilizing our skills to collectively create a school newsletter. We prioritize flexibility in scheduling (we understand that you are busy) and having fun! If you are interested in joining, come to one of our meetings, listed below.

Currently, we have 4 roles. Each one is critical to the development of a unified website.

  1. Journalists - Journalists write news articles, editorials (opinion pieces), features (topics of interest), or whatever form of writing fits their best interest. After the article has been written, editors will review it and make proper changes.
  2. Photographers - Photographers take pictures of anything that can be used for articles, the website, or social media. They may also submit photographs for artistic purposes.
  3. Cartoonists - Cartoonists incorporate visuals, comics, and graphics to creatively express humor, ideas, and messages. They may also work with the Digital Manager to create graphics for social media.
  4. Editors -Editors determine what will be published and set deadlines. They also edit and revise all articles prior to publication. Note that they do not always determine assignment topics (though, when they do, they must consider interests) but approve proposals by those who they are assigned to work with. They are the last set of eyes before publication, allowing the newsletter to reach its full potential.

You are not confined to one role- you may choose to work on whichever you wish. The tasks that you are assigned will be determined based on your interests. We hope that you enjoy our club! If you have more questions, you can contact us here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I pursue multiple roles at once?

A: Absolutely! You may choose a 'primary' role based on your interests or talents, but you can also take on additional roles and responsibilities.

Q: What if I can't make one of the meetings?

A: That's okay! Our secretary will take notes on everything discussed during meetings and relay the information to anyone who couldn't catch the meeting. If regular attendance becomes an issue, we ask that you communicate that with us.

Q: What if I can’t make a deadline?

A: We understand! Everyone has busy schedules and responsibilities, and we don't want this club to be stressful. We are flexible with our deadlines, and it is okay if you need an extension if there is proper communication, and assignments are still completed in a reasonable and timely manner. However, it’s important that members make themselves reliable.

Q: What if I have question not listed on this page?

A: Contact information is on our contact page.
