Baseball with Ben

Ben Lamy
Ben Lamy is a Sophomore at George Jenkins High School. He plays a variety of sports, including baseball and football. I was interested in Ben’s passion for sports, so I interviewed him.
Throughout his life, Lamy has played basketball, soccer, football, and baseball. At the beginning of the year, during football season, he was part of the GJ JV Football team. Nowadays, Lamy focuses on baseball but does not play for the school; rather part of a travel team. He has been playing baseball since he was just four years old.
When asked what the hardest part of playing baseball is, he responded that it was striking out, a baseball term that means to accumulate three strikes. In addition, the competition is taxing, explaining that his teammates and opponents are quite competitive.
Ben voices that he has learned teamwork and mental fortitude through playing this sport. He works hard and can often be seen walking home after being in the weight room. Lamy states that he must stay focused and composed when playing ball.
Ben’s response to whether he had any words of encouragement to share amongst other athletes is, “Keep pushing yourself; one day, you will get there.”
