A shot from the soccer game

On Friday, November 15th, our boys’ varsity soccer team triumphed against Lake Gibson in a tight match. An enthusiastic crowd of onlookers braved the frigid temperatures to cheer on our home team. Playing through the brutally cold weather, the athletes secured a narrow win. GJ walked off the pitch with two goals, Lake Gibson with just one.

Both teams’ defense played an intense match, skillfully blocking most shots and attempting goals. When one GJ defender got beat, the other was right behind for backup. Lake Gibson was barely able to get the ball near our goal. In total, only one of their shots made it into the back of the net.

Our goalie played a great game, saving numerous shots throughout the night. Sporting a pink jersey, he showed incredible agility and clever strategy. He blocked nearly every shooting angle and ran into the fray to punch the ball out of the goal box. He very well may have been the most valuable player that evening.

On the topic of valuable players, number 10 scored the second goal, effectively pulling our team out of a tie. He displayed an adept ball touch throughout the game, snatching the ball from unsuspecting opponents. Those watching the game witnessed his commitment firsthand to each play made on the pitch. His spirited participation afforded the team the upper hand.

Overall, the entire team showed generous amounts of skill. Their win was well-earned. Great ball touch, speedy recovery, impressive agility, well-developed game IQ, and cohesive teamwork were all contributing factors to the team’s victory. Both teams played well, but it’s clear who the real winners are.
